RAZR 2 V8 Questions

I've had my RAZR 2 V8 since November and something about the phone bothers me. Two things actually. The first is the hinge. When I open the phone, when it reaches a certain point (just over halfway open) the spring seems to become very weak. It seems floppy almost. When it's in the full open position it takes a very very light push to close it. When closing it, it snaps closed with strong tension. I'm used to the springs on my old net10 W375 and more recently the W490. The springs on both of those phones snap open and closed with quite a bit of force; just what I like.

The second issue I have is the screen when I open the phone. It takes 1.5-2 seconds to come on. More of a nuisance, but I paid full price for this phone, so I'm picky. Should I exchange the headset (warrantied through T-Mobile)? Or is the nature of the V8? What's sad is that this is my second V8 as the first required an obscene amount of pressure when pressing the left arrow/selection key to register a button press. I'm a bit disappointed with the build quality of this phone. I'll be getting a razr V3i soon as the displays I played with all had the strong springs I prefer.

I had a problem with my ROKR E8 too; the backlight was very visibly off center. The replacement sent didn't have the issue but again, I'm disappointed with moto's build quality or more accurately, quality control (or lack thereof). Is this what I have to look forward to with moto? The W375 is one of the most solidly built phones I owned. It's bothersome to see quality declining.
