    Hello all,

    I am trying to update the Software on a Nextel Moto (iden) I830 and keep getting error code 100. It says unsupported carrier and getting no help from moto. I either get service restricted or no service when trying to call out. I f anybody has seen this any help would be greatly appreciated. I got the Software from Motos site.

    I'm sorry I should have said that was the first thing done. The second thing done was call MOTO. they are both CLUELESS. But as far as Nextel goes that does not suprise me. If it wasnt for Work pays for my Nextel I would not have it.

    For those of you who have, or are about to receive, the FedX'd package
    to upgrade your Motorola/Nextel iDen phone. Be very careful during the
    A-GPS software upgrade. This upgrade is to fix a software issue with
    the A-GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) and the E911 protocols.
    This only effects the i58sr, i88s, i205, i305, i530, i710, i730, i733,
    i736, and the i830 iden phones.

    Motorola sent with the package a non-warranted data cable. This is one
    of there special limited use one time type cables. If you use this data
    cable and you do not have this cable correctly fasten to your phone it
    could pop loose during the software upgrade. If this happens you will
    have to call the supplied Motorola 800 #, tell the tech/rep what
    happened, and wait 24/48 hours for Motorola to ""Fast Ship"" you a
    replacement iden phone to match the one that just got screwed.


    I would suggest that if you do this upgrade yourself, that you do so in
    the morning hours that would match the Motorola M-F 9a-8p EST time zone
    work hours. Because if you have problems, it stands to reason that you
    *might* get a replacement phone by the next day. If not you could be
    with out service for 2 to 3 days.

    it seems like you need a new phone.

    1st thing you can try is this if possible, take out the sim card and put it in another Nextel phone. If you still get no service or service restricted it's a problem with the service or the sim card. If it works and you can make calls it's the phone.

    If you end up find out it's the phone then you can try a master reset on the phone to do that you have to....
    hold on a second so I can go find a Nextel because I can't remember :-P

    ...well I found a phone but no battery.
    If I remember correctly you press menu, settings, advanced settings, reset, master rest and enter security code which shound be 1111,

    But most likely if you call customer disservice they already tried that. So it's likely a bad transmitter in the phone. Then you have to bring it in to a service center.
