I recently purchased an "unlocked" V195 off of ebay for my father. When I received it I put in the Cingular SIM card from his old phone, it asked for a SIM PIN, Cingular gave my father a Pin Unlock Key. From what I've read, incorrectly putting in the SIM PIN a few times will block the PIN in which case you then have to put in the PUK, can anyone confirm this? So unintelligently when it asked for the PIN I punched in the PUK multiple times thinking eventually it would be accepted. It wasn't and now says Contact Customer Support. I took the SIM card out and put it in the old phone and it works fine, so as far as I can tell the SIM card isn't dead. The phone was originally manufactured for T-Mobile so I put in my T-Mobile SIM card and the phone worked fine, it didn't even ask for a SIM PIN. So it seems as if the phone is fine, the Cingular SIM card is fine, but the Cingular SIM card in that phone is what doesn't work. Can anyone help me figure out what I did wrong (assuming it's my PUK/PIN mistake) and what I should have done? Is it possible the phone isn't unlocked? And why did the phone ask for a SIM PIN with the Cingular SIM card in but not my T-Mobile SIM card? Any help is appreciated, thank you.
