Hello all:
I am in Williamsburg VA with my Motorola Razr. There is a CDMA (Verizon) tower on top of the building that I am in; however, I still get poor service because the phone refuses to hit that tower. Before I activated the phone on the alltel network -- I got 5 bars digital in the building. Now that the phone is on the alltel network, the signal sucks.
So - my question is - is there some way I can force the phone to acknowledge that the tower above my head is legit? (It's a digital CDMA tower).
Thanks
Dan
PS. I have the USB cable and Motorola phone tools - so I can send/receive things from my computer.

Re: Registering Cell Towers?
Have you tried to just dial *228 and pick option 2 to update your phone. It might just be that your phone needs to be updated to pick the new tower up.

Re: Registering Cell Towers?
Tried that earlier -- no dice.
However, if I dial *22801 (to get Verizon's tower list) -- I get great signal. I haven't gone thru all the prompts - because I don't want to screw up the phone.
I am also trying to figure out if I would incur roaming charges for using Verizon's tower. I have a statewide plan for VA -- but I don't know if that includes towers that I got via "hacks" (so to speak).
The yellow roaming triangle is on while I am listening to verizon's "how to activate" prompts. I am not sure if that is omen or not...?
Any ideas?
