Turn on Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”

Adjust the Screen Brightness & Timeout Duration:

  1. From the phone’s “Settings” menu, scroll to “Device”
  2. Tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and lower the display luminosity. NOTE: in order to manually set the screen brightness, “Adaptive brightness” needs to be disabled
  4. In the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep”
  5. Select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: Setting your accounts to sync less data can prolong your phone’s battery life in the long run

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Under “Personal” tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account type
  5. Tap an account and clear & check boxes associated with the desired sync settings

Minimize the Use of 3rd Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when you don’t use them (assuming they run regular processes in the background). You can disable or remove rarely-used or never-used third party apps to improve battery life in the long run

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  4. Swipe to the “Downloaded” screen
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” to disable it
  6. To remove an app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile Networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Tap “2G” to disable 4G

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth when these features are not in use. This can improve your phone’s battery life on the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to disable these connectivity options
  3. To change the way “Location” (GPS) works, go to “Settings” > “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  4. To disable Hotspot from the “Settings” menu, swipe to “Wireless & networks” and tap “More"
  5. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
  6. Disable “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot”
