Backing Up Applications:

  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
  3. Tap "Backup and reset". NOTE: in order to back up your apps, you need to be logged in to a Google account. If necessary, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
  4. If necessary, mark the check boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Backup account"

Contact Backup

Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Contacts" icon
  2. If necessary, press the "Menu" button, tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  3. Press the "Menu" button and select "Import / Export"
  4. Tap "Export to SD card"
  5. A backup file will be created. Write down the file's name to easily restore the contacts next time
  6. Tap "OK"

Backing Up Contacts to a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
  2. Press the "Menu" button
  3. Tap "Merge accounts"
  4. Select to "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
  5. Log in to your Samsung or Google account, if necessary

Media File Back Up

Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
  2. Tap "My Files" > "All files"
  3. Select "Device storage"
  4. If you wish to back up all of your files, press "Menu", tap "Select all" and skip to step 6
  5. Navigate to the files / folders that you wish to back up. NOTE: Pictures taken with the camera app are normally found in the "DCIM" folder; downloaded content in the "Downloads" folder etc
  6. Mark the check boxes associated with the files / folders that you wish to back up
  7. Tap the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right corner
  8. Tap "Copy" or "Move" if you wish to avoid creating duplicates
  9. Tap "SD memory card"
  10. Navigate to the desired folder, and tap "Paste here" (or "Move here")

Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between your computer and PC via USB
  2. On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Tap the "Media device" check box
  4. On the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer", in the AutoPlay window
  5. Locate the files that are stored on your phone, and you wish to back up
  6. Copy the files, and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer
  7. Transfer the files to the desired location
  8. Once the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone

Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first two steps if you already have Kies installed on your Mac

  1. Navigate to Kies using your computer's Internet browser
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your Mac
  3. Establish a connection between your smartphone and Mac via USB
  4. Swipe the "Status" bar down on the Core LTE, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
  5. Launch Kies on your Mac, and click the "Back up / restore" tab
  6. Click the "Backup" tab if necessary
  7. Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music" and other types of files that you wish to back up. Optionally, click "Select all items"
  8. Click "Backup"
  9. After the process is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
