WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will result in loss of personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. By resetting your device, you will return it to factory values. Ringtones, images, contacts, apps and downloaded content located on the internal storage will be deleted. Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

Master Resetting via the Settings Menu:

  1. Press the "Menu" button while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "Accounts" tab
  4. Under "Backup options", tap "Backup and reset"
  5. Optionally, clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  7. Assuming that your smartphone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN, password or pattern and tap "Continue"
  8. Tap "Delete all" to confirm

Master Resetting Using Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: perform this method of master reset if you are unable to reset your smartphone through the settings menu

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" simultaneously
  3. Once the phone vibrates, let go of the "Power" button but keep pressing the "Volume Up" and "Home" buttons
  4. Once the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release all hardware keys
  5. From the recovery menu, press the "Volume down" button until you highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. Navigate to and highlight "Delete all user data" using the "Volume down" button
  8. Press the "Power" button to select the option
  9. Your smartphone will now reset, and once the process is complete, "Reboot system now" will be highlighted
  10. Press the "Power" key to reboot your device
