Transferring Contacts via iTunes:

iTunes allows you to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone with your Google account. By doing so, you can then easily re-sync the contacts from the account with your Samsung Galaxy Avant. Transferred contacts include the contact image, address, notes and any other information saved. This method requires a computer with iTunes installed and access to the Internet.

  1. Launch iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the USB cable to connect the iPhone to your PC
  3. Once connected, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click it to reveal the summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  6. Enter your Google account's log in details, or alternatively click "Configure" and select an existing account
  7. To begin the syncing process, click "Apply"
  8. Next up, register the same account on the Samsung Galaxy Avant. NOTE: to add an account go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Set the account so that it is allowed to sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Transferring Contacts via iCloud:

A second method of transfer requiring access to a computer is via iCloud. Assuming that you have previously backed up your iPhone to the iCloud service, then your contacts should also be saved on your iCloud account. By accessing it using your computer's Internet browser, you can export these contacts for use on the Android smartphone:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account and click "Contacts"
  3. Select the contacts you wish to export and click the "Settings" icon depicting a cog wheel
  4. Choose to "Export vCard", and wait for your computer to download the file
  5. Import the VCF file to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, connect the Samsung Galaxy Avant to your computer via USB, and copy the VCF file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "Contacts" app and tap "Menu" from the "Contacts" screen, followed by "Settings" > "Contacts" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD". Follow any self-explanatory additional steps to complete the process

Using "My Contacts Backup":

My Contacts Backup is a third party application for iOS that allows you to transfer your contacts without needing access to a computer. The application can back up the contacts in the form of a vCard, which can then be sent to the Avant via email:

  1. Go to the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
  2. Launch the application and tap "Backup"
  3. After the VCF file has been created, tap "Email"
  4. Compose a new email and attach the VCF file to it
  5. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  6. Switch to the Galaxy Avant, and open the email
  7. Download the attached file, and import its contents via the "Contacts" app and the "Import" function (as seen in the iCloud guide)

Using "Send Anywhere":

A second third party application that can be used for transferring contacts without access to a computer is "Send Anywhere". This is an iOS and Android app that can transfer contacts and other file types via a peer-2-peer connection

  1. Go to the App Store and install "Send Anywhere" on the iPhone
  2. Access the Google Play Store and install the same application on the Galaxy Avant
  3. Launch the app on both smartphones
  4. Tap "Send" on the iPhone, followed by "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts you wish to share with the Avant and tap "Send"
  6. Finally, select a transfer method. By tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy Avant, you can commence the process after typing in the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone. Alternatively, tap "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone, and scan the code with the Avant's camera to begin the transfer
