Restoring Apps:

  1. Sign in with your Samsung or Google account, depending on the type of account used for the initial backup
  2. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and go to "Accounts"
  4. Tap "Samsung" or "Google"
  5. Tap your "email address". It should be located at the top of the screen
  6. Tap "Sync all", and press "Back" to return to the "User and Backup" menu
  7. Tap "Backup and reset" and then mark / clear the check boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"

Restoring Contacts

Restoring Contacts from a Google or Samsung Account:

  1. Log in with your Samsung or Google account
  2. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  3. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "User and Backup"
  4. Tap "Accounts" > "Samsung" or "Google" (choose the type of account that contains the backup)
  5. Tap your "email address" at the top of the screen
  6. Mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts" and tap "Sync now"

Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:

  1. Launch the "Contacts" application and go to the "Contacts" tab
  2. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
  3. Tap "Import / Export" > "Import form SD Card"
  4. Choose an account, and load the desired VCF file

Restoring Media

Restoring Media Files from the Phone's Storage:

  1. Launch the "My Files" application
  2. Tap "All files" > "SD card"
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
  4. Mark the check boxes next to the files / folders you wish to restore
  5. Press "Menu" and tap "Move" > "Device storage"
  6. Go to the location where the files should be restored, and tap "Move here"
  7. Alternatively, tap "Create folder" if you wish to import the files in a different location

Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a connection between the Samsung Galaxy Avant and your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
  4. Click "Open device to view files" on the computer
  5. Open a second Windows Explorer window, and navigate to where the media files are backed up on your computer
  6. Copy the files, and paste them in the desired directories located on the "Card" or "Phone" storage
  7. Lastly, click the "Mass storage device" icon located in the system tray, and safely disconnect your smartphone

Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the Avant to your Mac using the USB cable
  2. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device" check box, and launch Kies on the Mac
  4. From Kies, click the "Back up / Restore" tab
  5. Click the "Restore" tab
  6. Select the "Music" and "Photo" check boxes. Alternatively, click "Select all items" to restore all media files
  7. After selecting the desired files, click "Restore"
  8. If necessary, follow any additional on-screen prompts, and once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your device from the Mac
