I tried this on my son's samsung and it worked. We've been trying to get him over to our carrier for awhile now but he wouldn't give up his phone. Thanks.
Hans, you're breaking my balls here, Hans! You're breaking my balls!

Re: *Updated* How to unlock samsungs. DO NOT post unlock code requests!
Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a Samsung a950, cdma pay as you go from Telus.
I was able to get the MSL, by saying that my phone requested the master unlock code because I altered an incorrect feature in my menu.
The thing that is perplexing me is how to get mp3 ringtones on to my phone.
What I sort of know. It cannot be more than 100kb, may have to converted in to another format: qcp, mid, or wmf. I am not sure.
The problem with the Samsung is the lock from Telus restrcts it only for use as a modem for a pc, or laptop. Data applications are locked our.
Xenxay on another forum posted some good codes for Telus cdma cell phones. I will list them at the end of this post.
I can get access to all the hidden menus, but have no idea which settings to alter to unlock the use of data applications.
Progrmas like Samsung Bitpim, Pst Lite, OPST, and CDMA workshop will not recognize the a950 because of this. Also, when I flip the phone open, I get a pop up stating that data apps. are restricted.
I have a usb data cable for the a950, and I can buy a trans-flash card if it can help the situation.
My Device manager shows the Samsung as:
Modems: Samsung Cdma modem #3, on Com#6.
Usb controllers: Samsung Usb Composite Device.
These are the menus that I am currently checking out:
Using ##Test I can get a data menu
Data Settings
1) PortMap (Data)
Options (Sid Mode): Null Dev, Uart, Usb cdc, or Bt dun.
2) PortMap (Diag)
Options (Sid Mode): Null Dev, Uart1, or Usb cdc.
3) Diag Band (uart)
Options (Sio Mode): Null dev, or Usb sic.
Using ##Data
3G Data Prog.
1) Default user profile
Options: too man to list here.
2) Dun user profile
Options: too many to list herre.
3) An-aaa parameter
Options: User name, and password
Using ##Telus
1) Nam 1
2) Nam 2
3) View Esn
4) Akey
5) Reset Phone
##Debug, and ##Browser, and ##Rtn I don't think will help in this circumstance.
Thank you, for reading this post. I greatly appreciate any help, and advice that you can provide.
Here is the Telus cdma codes from Xenxay.
Note: the code to everyone but ##debug is the Msl, you will need to get this from your carrier, or a rep. that is cool with giving it out at a store.
##TEST = (##8378) - test mode
##DEBUG = (##33284) - debug mode
##DATA = (##3282) - Wireless web user info (UsrName+Password)
##BROWSER = (##2769737) (more wap settings) IP, Connection , Network, Etc,)
##RTN ok = (##786 then ok button) RTN MENU, 1 SYSTEM - 2 CLEAR MEMORY - 3 Factory Reset
Im on telus, so i enter:
##TELUS for programing mode
most of these will require a code, SPC, MSL or Other programing code,
for debug mode
I seem to find Samsungs main code works fine "##DEBUG - 183729,
Data and test mode some ppl find 000000 works, if not, you will have to find your MSL/SPC code with Bit-Pim, (read more about Bit-Pim Process Below)
(if on telus)
you will also find MSL/SPC code with Bit-Pim:

Re: *Updated* How to unlock samsungs. DO NOT post unlock code requests!
Hi I'm new, I have a sgh-a737, with at&t, and I'm pretty angry right now.
when we went in and told the folks that I wanted, the camera, the video, the mp3 player and to play games, (because I need to put my Metronome programe on my phone, it uses jad and jar)
And told them we only want the phone service, no internet because we already have internet service, we don't text, they told us this is the phone for you.
I have a samsung mp3 player that rocks, and so I thought that samsung would be great.
i had bought a usb cable, a blue tooth, a memory card and a head phone jack.
Now we are locked into a 2 year contract, where I can't play my already bought and paid for games and they want to charge us for downloading as well as play time, I can't play my videos with the blue tooth unless it is streamed, so I can hear the sound,
I called both at&t and samsung, with no help and at this point I will never buy anything samsung or at&t again, EVER! they lied to me and now I'm stuck in a contract with something that is of no use to me.
They only gave me a hint that the code was 8-16 digets and had 0523 in it. gee thanks.
basically buying a samsung was very stupid because they sold theirselves out to at&t, and me using deceptive AT&T was even stupider. and now I'm stuck, and get angry everytime I look at it or make a call.
My biggest gripe is that I can't get my jad jar to play on the phone, and I am not paying for it again nor for it's download, nor for when it's being used.
I don't have an extra sims card, and am not a technition so If I mess up, I'm skrewed.
I don't care about all the other stuff, I just need to get the Metronome working, and I am so pissed about not being able to use the stuff that the samsung was made for, i don't want another phone, I want another service, but have to wait for 2 years, I don't think it would be safe for me to even walk near a at&t store, I'd probaly rip their heads off at this point!
And sorry about my bad additude, but I'm angry!

Re: *Updated* How to unlock samsungs. DO NOT post unlock code requests!
I use to work with AT&T customer support, and I would defiantly recommend escalating to a supervisor, and keep escalating until you get results. It is just some lazy rep that your speaking to that does not want to do their job. Crying shame, really. Customer service is just not a priority for some people. Best of luck, and don't give up.
