Sanyo Incognito außerhalb Display

I can not get the outside display to turn on it turns on when i first turn on the phone but other than that it wont come up and i tryed the little side key.. I just got it and its bugging me

If the phone is closed, and you're looking at the face of the phone, the button is on the lower-left side. Slide the button down, and the face will light up. Then you can touch the numbers on the face to dial a number - without having to open the phone.
You can also use the up / down arrows on the face to scroll thru the phone book entries.
