Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
- Go to Settings
- Scroll Device and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By turning off the phones connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location tiles to turn off these features
- For additional GPS options, first access Settings
- Then, tap Location > Mode and turn on Battery Saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot
- Tap the switch to turn off Hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Tap Preferred network type and select 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you could improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account
- Disable or modify the desired sync options
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can perform regular background processes, and as such they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. Thus by removing or disabling unused third party applications, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop to disable the app, or tap Uninstall to remove it from the phone
NOTE: Alternatively you can uninstall applications by opening the apps drawer, and by dragging and dropping the desired apps shortcut on top of the Uninstall area at the top.
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Access System updates
- Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it. NOTE: The updating process will require at least one reboot
