Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Scroll “Device” and tap ”Display”
  5. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to turn off these features
  3. For additional GPS options, first access “Settings”
  4. Then, tap “Location” > “Mode” and turn on “Battery Saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot”
  7. Tap the switch to turn off Hotspot

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile Networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you could improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Accounts” and select an account
  5. Disable or modify the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can perform regular background processes, and as such they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. Thus by removing or disabling unused third party applications, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force Stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove it from the phone

NOTE: Alternatively you can uninstall applications by opening the apps drawer, and by dragging and dropping the desired app’s shortcut on top of the “Uninstall” area at the top.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to, and tap “About phone”
  3. Access “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it. NOTE: The updating process will require at least one reboot
