I would just like to say Thank You Sprint.
I've been with Sprint since it first came to town and have been thinking about this for several days. So I'm pretty sure what I say comes from the heart.
Several of months ago I purchased a new (very expensive and overpriced) phone. My old phone was a couple of years old and Sprint said I was eligible for the rebate. Nowhere in this rebate did Sprint claim I needed to sign a new agreement nor was this stated by the salesmen at Sprint. A $250 rebate I must say.
You are probably wondering how this is a Thank You letter and I can assure you I will be getting to that in a moment.
4 months go by and finally I receive a letter from Sprint. What does it say? Oh, just what I thought it would say “You are ineligible for this rebate because you did not elect to purchase the 2 year agreement”
At first I laughed then I got angry, then I laughed again. Somehow with the way Sprint customer service went from great (when they first started up) to absolutely incompetent (the year after startup and since) I wasn’t surprised.
This isn’t the first time Sprint has ripped me off. I can assure you however it will be the last.
I just wanted to say Thank You because now I can finally drop this service just as your service drops my calls.
This will not be the last time you hear from me. I will make 1 more call to you when I transfer this number. Whatever it cost to get out of my contract will be a small price to pay when considering the satisfaction I get when I'm waving to you in my rear view mirror.
Maybe I will join the group of people out there that are down on the Sprint customer service dept. It’s getting to be a popular place I hear.

P.S. Thank You – I thought you phones were pretty cool.

Did you even read the rebate form? Its clearly stated in the terms. I'm sorry for your loss, but its important to read up on the terms before taking advantage of an offer.

"Customer is enrolled in the program upon activation of a new handset on a $34.99 or greater plan and when signing a new one- or two-year Sprint PCS Advantage Agreement. Upon completion of 18 months of continuous Sprint PCS Service, a customer is eligible to receive a rebate on select Sprint PCS Phones if customer remained on a $34.99 or greater plan. A Sprint PCS Service Plan is your base monthly plan; it does not include monthly fees for add-on features & services. The upgrade amount (up to $150 value) will be provided through a mail-in rebate and will only be available on Sprint PCS Phones with a current rebate offer. See stores for details on current Sprint PCS Phone Rebates. The value of the mail-in rebate cannot exceed the total purchase price of the Sprint PCS Phone. Rebate is not redeemable for cash and is not transferable. To redeem for the rebate, a customer must meet the promotional rebate requirements as stated in this brochure and on the mail-in rebate form. Purchasing and activating a new phone and receiving any other discount prior to date of eligibility for the rebate offer forfeits enrollment in the program (excludes additional new lines of service). To redeem for the rebate offer, a customer's account must be in good standing with no past-due unpaid balances on their account. New Sprint PCS Phones activated under the Sprint PCS Phone Upgrade Program must remain active during the time the rebate is being processed (6-8 weeks). Sprint may change or terminate this program at any time. The promotional rebate offers are subject to change at any time. Rebates may not be available in all locations. ©2004 Sprint. A $250 rebate I must say.
If that's what you were told, you were unfortunately dealing with a lying salesperson. The rebate is $150 for a 2 year contract or $100 for a one year contract.

I'm sorry the salesmen lied to you or misled you, but you may find that with other salesmen for other cell phone companies as well. All of those other companies are going to have similar stipulations for their upgrade programs, and yes, you might come across a lying salesperson or two.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS read the documents.
