Hi! I'm aware visual voicemail won't work on an iPhone on Straight Talk, but I should at least be getting a notification when someone leaves me a voicemail, correct? I'm not. How can I fix this? I don't like having to call myself every time I miss a call just to see if there's a voicemail.
Thanks!

If voicemail doesn't work, why do you think it will notify you about it in the first place?

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
Voicemail works fine. Visual voicemail (the native iPhone voicemail app) does not. I've read other users still get their notifications when they receive a voicemail. I just have to call my voicemail every time I miss a call, just to make sure I don't have voicemail, and if my phone is off for a while, I have to call it to see if there are voicemails. It's a bit of a pain.

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
I think notifications would be subscription based. I had a voicemail feature before for a local carrier, and I used it only a few times. It doesn't notify me by default, but customer service says I can request for the feature, they will text me if a voicemail is waiting. I just had to agree to the charge per sms.

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
I'm not familiar with the iPhone voicemail system, but as far as I know, you should get some type of notifications.
You can also use the Google Voice application, and have people call that number. If they leave a voicemail Google Voice should notify you of it. You might like Google Voice because it has a lot of features, and will send you an email with the voicemail if you'd like.

Google Voice does not work in countries beyond the US if I remember correctly.

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
I'm having the same problem, oddly it started a few days ago. I have voicemails and can access them by dialing my number, but the "voicemail" icon on the iPhone shows visual voicemail and an empty list. Makes sense, since Straight Talk does not support Visual Voicemail, to my knowledge.
Is there any way to disable visual voicemail? Seems like that would fix the issue.
Using a jailbroken iPhone 4.S, 5.1.1

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
After doing some research, I found this:
"I had this problem and my carrier is StraightTalk which doesn't support visual voicemail. What is worse, is that I did not have any indication that voicemail's were being left for me. I had to piece together some other instructions along with those up above to get mine back to normal. Here is what I did.
Step 1: The first thing you want to do is discover the number of your voicemail box. You can do this by typing *#61# and pressing "call." The iPhone will now tell you if voicemail is enabled and the number of your voicemail box. Copy down this number.
Step 2: go to Settings - General - Network - now turn off cellular data.
Go back and look at your voice mail it should now give you some sort of nasty message about how Visual Voice Mail does not work without a cellular data connection.
Now you go to the keypad and input:
*5005*86*"copied number from step 1"#
hit home button
hit settings
hit general
hit reset all
The Phone reboots and visual voicemail is no longer showing on the Voicemail tab. Additionally my message count now shows for voicemail's waiting."

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
It would think something would come up on the screen automatically without hitting the call button, but if it doesn't, try hitting it. If it tries to dial the number, hang up.
Make sure you don't put in quotation marks when dialing. You should just enter: *5005*86*NUMBERHERE#
Replace NUMBERHERE with the number from step 1.
I would think you need to follow the instructions and reset all settings, but you can experiment and see if you can avoid that.

Re: Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone
OK, read the Apple thread you linked to and found the solution: Dial *5005*86xxxxxxxxxx# where xxxxxxxxxx is the 10-digit US number (remove the '1' prefix).
