I am planning on buying an LG Optimus Black and switch my service to Straight Talk. (I currently have a Samsung Intercept on Virgin Mobile...ugh!) I would rather not pay $329 for a phone, especially since I will be buying two of them, one for me and one for the wife. If I were to buy an unlocked Optimus, what would I need to do to get a Straight Talk phone plan up and running on it?

Re: Unlocked Phones and a new Straight Talk plan
First, you would need to make sure the unlocked phone you're getting is compatible with either AT&T's network or T-Mobile's network.
If it is compatible, choose the appropriate SIM card by visiting: Straight Talk SIM Service - Hildretech
You can choose the AT&T SIM card, if compatible, or the T-Mobile SIM card, if compatible. We recommend purchasing the SIM card and first month of service bundle for a total of $59.99.
After you receive the SIM card, follow the activation instructions that come with it.
You will also need to set up APN settings which will allow you to access the Internet along with allowing you to send and receive picture messages (MMS). You can send us an email at [email protected] for more information regarding that.
If you don't need unlimited talk, text, and data, there are cheaper options available. Please let contact us if you're interested in other options. For example, you can get 1,000 minutes, 4,000 text messages, and 1 GB of data for two lines at $65 per month. That would be $25 per month savings.
If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]
In addition to cell phone service, we also offer home phone service and television service. If you're interested, please let us know, or visit our website Hildretech
