    Hi everyone,
I`ve just got a car that has a professionally installed hands free kit in,
which works with a (supplied) nokia 6310i. I normally use a Nokia N70 and
would much prefer being able to have a single phone that also worked in my
    car when needed.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the phone cradle changed over from
the Nokia 6310i one to a N70 one, if so any idea of an approximate cost, and
a company that would be able to do this for me? I`m in the Merseyside area.

    Thanks for your help!

The 6230i and N70 are very different phones, they don't speak the same
language to car kit control boxes. You will need a complete new kit 'I'm
    afraid.

Why am I not surprised? :-) The 6230i also has a knackered screen (a
friend had one with the same problem, cost a few quid to fix). I`ll leave
    it for now I think!

You could always remove the cradle, buy a cheap generic cradle and car
charger and use it via bluetooth.

Having said that, I've not been all that impressed by the sound quality
on bluetooth, or the fact that if you stick a phone in the cradle, it
    cuts the bluetooth connection.

(I have a 6230i for work and my personal phone is a Windows Mobile
    device)

I`ve got a cradle for using the N70 with a bluetooth GPS unit for satnav.
As for bluetooth sound quality - ICK! I can see why the reports I`ve seen
claim that using any kind of hands-free kit makes no difference to the
chances of being involved in a fatal crash - using a phone while driving
increases the risk by about 4 times.

I think I`m going to abandon the idea of using the hands free kit - it was
only ever going to be used very occasionally when I was pulled up somewhere
safe. Are they worth anything second hand?
