The Jolla phone has been announced many months back, and now the handset seems to finally close in to the finish line. In case you're not familiar with this particular device, the Jolla is a Finnish smartphone manufacturer that relies on the Sailfish mobile operating system. The company has been initially started by Nokia employees, but since then, Jolla became an independent entity and is now getting ready to release its first smartphone.

The Jolla phone has been revealed earlier this year, and enthusiasts of the device have been able to back up the project by pre-ordering the device. Now, the company has announced that the handset will hit the market on November 27 at the price of €399 (roughly $540) unlocked. Evidently, early backers of the Jolla phone project will get priority and will receive the device as soon as possible. The handset will also be offered on-contract by the Finnish carrier "DNA", but prices are currently unknown.

So what are you going to get for that amount of cash? Well, the Jolla phone is no more or less than a decent mid-range smartphone, featuring a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, expandable by up to 64 GB via microSD. The handset features a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 540 x 960, resulting in a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch. On the back panel resides an 8 MP main camera with LED flash, and on the front there's a 2 MP secondary shooter. The device is being powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, and the handset runs on Sailfish OS.
