First of all, I just want to say that I'm quite new to cell phones and I don't know much about them other than how to use them and etc. Well my question is that I'm wanting to replace my current cell phone, which is an LG2000. My service provider is Fido and I'm currently on their prepaid service. I'm wondering if I can buy a cell phone from a different company and use my current sim card on the new phone. Thanks in advance

To be able to use your Fido SIM in another phone from another company you will have to make sure that the phone is GSM and UNLOCKED. Otherwise your SIM won't work. The only other GSM provider in Canada is Rogers.
Hope this helps!

If the phone is GSM and from the US it will work. The only thing to watch for when getting an unlocked cell phone from a different network is that it had the same bands supported by FIDO. FIDO uses 1900Mhz and 850Mhz(Rogers).
In North America, most use those two bands so you shouldn't have a problem.
Hope this helps!

saviiour, the only way I know of to unlock a t610 is to bring it to any cell phone repair store and ask them to unlock it. Most usually charge around $30 to do it.

You may also buy unlocked GSM phones from many online companys. for example www.easycell.ca (I do not own this company or collect any income for talking about this company. I just find this an easy to use website)
