Is fido allowed to change a contract???

Hi-I have a 2 year contract with Fido in Montreal Canada.. In January of this year,I received a notice from Fido telling me that they were going to change some of the call forwarding features that I had previously enjoyed. I immediately phoned them, and was assured that I had a contract, and it could not be changed, and the features that they were changing applied only to new customers. Then in February,I found out that one of my call forwardrding features had been taken away, contrary to what I had been told. The feature I am talking about is that I used to be able to program my call forwarding so that if I don't answer within about 2 or 3 rings, it automatically tranfers the call to my house phone. I can no longer do that. It now transfers directly to my house phone and my cell no longer rings.Since then, I have phoned Fido about 10-12 times trying to get an answer to this question: Why is Fido allowed to change a contract???? Also,I have many friends with Fido, who never use the feature I am talking about, but when they try it with their phones,it still works. Why?????? Thanks Russell.

when you change your price plan sometimes the contract dates get switched by the system and because of the stupid CSRs, they don't bother to change the dates for you... if you talk to someone who knows what to look for, the contract dates can be put back to the start dates..

i can't tell you how many times i had to switch dates for customers,

and yes the Call forwarding sucks now because it's only unconditional now .. they changed that because of the big turn around Fido did back in November 2008 with the no system access fees and 911.. also the Voice mail retrieval numbers have changed as of febuary 2009

Re: Is fido allowed to change a contract???

Unfortunately its part of you're commitment with Fido that we reserve the right to change anything about you're contract It's actually Section 2, Point 17 of you're Terms and Conditions Agreement with Fido:

" 17. We reserve the right to restrict, change, suspend or terminate your Service by any means if your access, use or connection to the Services, Equipment or our facilities is impairing or adversely affecting our operation or the use of our Services or facilities by others. "

Sorry to say it but, Fido can modify/change aspects of your service.

Keep in mind we don't make changes to nickle and dime you, and make you mad. If we make changes we try to notify you ahead of time and offer alternatives to help satisfy you ...

Hope this doesn't effect you're relationship with Fido!
