Hi,
I don't send my number with outgoing calls.
For some people I want to send it so before the number there is a code
*31# which send the number with that call.
Now when I want to send a SMS to such a number my E51 says "number
incorrect".
When I sent it from PC-Suite through my phone everything is ok.
Any idea how I could get my phone to accept the *31# prefix for SMS's?
Willem.

When you send via PC Suite using the *31# prefix, are you sure the SMS
is actually received, and does it arrive without displaying the
sender's number?

Oops, good question: it seems to bee sent, but is never received.
Thanks.
Another question now:
I used this method as long as I use Nokia phones (and I've never used
anything else), the "problem"started with my first symbian, the E50.
Hmm, could be something changed by my provider.
Moment, will test with an older phone) ...
Hmm, don't understand. My older nokia does try to send the msg, but I
get an error "number not in use". My E51 doesn't even try to send and
tells me "number invalid". PC-Suite seems to send it (my E51 does tell
me it has been send) but the receiver does not receive it.
I think the *xx# codes should be stripped when sending an SMS

Not possible IIRC.

Ditto not possible.
This has been raised over the years, the conclusion is that it is only of
use to sms spammers / scammers.
Is that your intention?

Nope.
I know my phone number is sent with the SMS and I want to keep that so
(answering would be possible otherwise).
But I don't want to sent my phone number to everyone I call or have
anyone see it that is redirected by my "land phone". Some I WANT it to
see so they know it's me calling.
Sending number in the nokia menu is off, for the persons I want to see
my number there is *31# is prefix for their number.
I COULD make two number 1 for calling 1 for SMS nut then Nokia won't
recognize incoming calls because the last 6 digits are the same (if
that is solved it is ok too).
There isn't any utility to strip the *31# when sending an SMS?
Willem.
