i think you can do that. I use a third party iorgsoft iphone video converter, it also offers extract mp3 from video files.

Only if the phone is unlocked. If it isn't unlocked, you can't do anything with it.

Well if it is jailbroken you can do that but if its not jailbroken it is a paperweight

i just got an iphone 4s. can i still use my old iphone 4 for just as an ipod for strictly music and not get charged for use of phone even if it says no sim?

Yep. After it is deactivated, works just like iPod touch. I'm doing it.

if you have a sim in it, you can just go with airplance mode - no cell, and use it as an ipod
