Master Reset via Settings:

WARNING! In case your iPhone SE crashes, freezes, is sluggish or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix these issues by master resetting the device. This can result in the deletion of personal data stored on the internal memory, including downloaded content, contacts, apps, media files, ringtones and so on. However, data located on the SIM card will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you master reset the iPhone SE, you can check out this thread for instructions on how you can back up data on the device.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “General”
  3. Tap “Reset” and select one of the following options:
    • Reset All Settings
    • Erase All Content and Settings
    • Reset Network Settings (NOTE: by selecting this option all your Wi-Fi profiles will be deleted)
    • Reset Keyboard Dictionary
    • Reset Home Screen Layout
    • Reset Location & Privacy
  4. If necessary, enter your password to proceed

Soft Reset via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: If your iPhone is unresponsive or doesn’t work properly, you might be able to fix these problems by soft resetting the device. This won’t affect any of your personal data on the phone’s internal memory, and can solve various issues. To soft reset the iPhone SE:

  1. Press and hold the “sleep / wake” button at the top of the phone
  2. Simultaneously, press and hold the “Home” button at the bottom
  3. Keep the buttons pressed until the screen turns black
  4. When the white “Apple” logo appears, release all buttons and wait for your device to reboot
