I am wanting to purchase a go phone and currently have an at & T account I would like to close eventually. Can I transfer my phone number to the Go phone?

Wireless number portability should be no problem...
As long as the account is in good standing: No outstanding contract or bills.
Contact both carriers for their porting procedures before closing any accounts.

Since both numbers are with the same carrier, there is no "porting" involved. It is an adminstrative billing change within the same carrier. You may not have to change phones or the SIM card. Go to a corporate store to minimize errors. Let the store handle the cancellation of your postpaid account. Under no circumstances should you cancel that account yourself. If you do, you will lose your number.
