I'm really puzzled. I wonder why anyone would use Cingular in Southern California once their contract expires??? I use my cell phone a lot for work driving between San Diego and Santa Barbara and Cingular is the most horrid cell phone carrier I have ever used. I had Cingular 2 years ago for about 6 months until I canceled and went back with Verizon. I tried Cingular again now for about 2 months and they are just as bad as they were 2 years ago. In fact, today I ordered a phone through Verizon to replace my 2 month old Cingular phone. (I am not locked into contracts as my company supplies me at no cost with cell phones so I can freely pick between carriers.) The reason I tried Cingular again was because we have an unlimited minutes plan with them and I was going to get rid of my land line and just use my cell number for everything. But the call quality is lousy so I am going back to Verizon. My son has T-Mobile and they have been great here too. With Verizon and T-Mobile having better call quality, and T-mobile being cheaper than Cingular, I can't figure out why people still stay with Cingular??? What am I missing?

Not all cell phone towers are created equal.

There are many things to be considered why they still use Cingular. Cell signal may be varied depending upon the cellsite tower, cellular # are used a long time ago and they are not planning on changing, and they love Cingular! LOL! Well, im a cingular user too! I got my phone 3 years ago at Best Cellular Phones | Cell Phone Service Providers | Information Of Cell Phone Service Providers.

By the way, every cell site tower has a standard height to be followed. Thats because human health are considered and some radio frequency radiation should be avoided.

I've been with cingular/ATT for many many years. I have a family plan and it works out great for me. i also live in Indiana, Cingular has been constantly getting better for me as they put up a lot of towers in the past six months.

i also joined this forum to be able to check out what others have to say about different providers. I'm basically trying to decide to go Verizon or stay with Cingular.

Re: Why Does Anyone Use Inferior Cingular Service?

I have Cingular and have had it before it was even known as Cingular way back when it was Pac Bell Cellular. I have only kept because I was getting a discount and now that AT&T has taken over they have dropped the amount of the discount so I am really weighing all other plans elsewhere.

For now I am locked into a contract until March of 2008 so I need some advice. Am I wrong in thinking that when you pay for service the phone you purchase should work??? I had to get a different phone about a year and a half ago because they said my current phone didn't have a strong enough antenna to pick up calls in this lousy area of Mohave County, AZ. I updated and up until about a month ago my service was decent, not perfect by any means, but I was able to make and receive calls most of the time. I recently had several homes built around me now when before it was pretty sparse so needless to say I am lucky to even get one bar now! Once again I called customer service at Cingular and asked what to do now. The representative told me he was going to switch out my phone to a new one and I could see how it worked. It was not going to be on my insurance plan nor did I have to pay a thing for it. He told me to do what I wanted with the old phone as he was also going to send me a new sim card. I received a new Nokia 6085 camera phone which is working with NO difference. I still get one bar and that hardly allows an outgoing call let alone an incoming one! I called a Representative yesterday (what a joke) and was told that I would have to upgrade my phone to get a better signal, yet she told me that I lived in a good to moderate area! YEAH, if I sit on top of my roof, MAYBE. She could NOT answer the question of paying for service for a service not rendered. I asked her why should I have to pay for an upgraded phone when that might not work either and her response was that was the rules!!!!! She said she was giving me the benefit of upgrading prior to my real time to do so but I would still be locked into a contract until next year so if this new expensive phone didn't work for me I would have to pay for a phone I couldn't use!!!!! I am not sure what they are looking at when they say I am in a good to moderate area when this is the kind of service I receive. I have to drive over 2 miles to get 3-4 bars. I am not sure who has the market on this area, but it sure isn't Cingular. Can anybody give me advice or let me know if what these Reps are telling me is true because it does get very frustrating when you get a different answer every time you call them!!!! Thanks

That's AT&T for you. They are so cheap because they are cheap. I use Cingular because that's the deal I got (hard to complain when you got something free). Irritated that now AT&T took over Bellsouth too. They discovered quickly I have no patience for people playing games with me.
