Re: Mac or PC
pc's are better than macs because lots more software runs on PC's than MACS.

Re: Mac or PC
i'm all about the mac. i used to run windows up until a few years ago when i switched over because i needed a mac for school. i take photography and digital communications, so a lot of the programs and computers are all mac based.
windows xp isn't a bad os though. i enjoyed using it for the most part. windows vista on the other hand was just terrible. it tried to emulate features on macs, but did it terribly. maybe windows 7 will change my mind though.

Re: Mac or PC
My whole family uses the same Power Mac G5 10.4.11. I had a PC for a while and didn't like it.

Re: Mac or PC
Mac is just a linux os wrapped into a neat package and marketed as something completely different than a 'pc'.. and who evere buys in to that kind of thinking pays for it with a hefty price tag lol. I'm only interested in the mac'c software side since I really dig the clean and simple gui. Maybe I should try to find some time and install the osx86 project on my Pentium 4 some day and see how it runs.

Re: Mac or PC
I have an XP and a Vista. XP is much better. (Want to try 7 because they claim it doesn't crash... we'll see...) Never had a mac. I'm sure if Apple lowered their prices they could still make the same amount of money (lower cost but more sales) yet they would have more customers and less competition. Just a thought...

Re: Mac or PC

PC
Gateway DX Series (Win Vista - intel quad core, 6 gb ram)
next in list is definitely MAC, although Linux (UBUNTU) is very nice~

Re: Mac or PC
I use both xD
I have an aluminum Macbook (2.4GHz P8600, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD, and a GeForce 9400M) running OS X 10.5.8.
and for windows computers I have my desktop (2.5GHz Q9300, 8GB DDR2 RAM, 1.8TB HDD space, and a GeForce 8800GT), and my netbook (1.6Ghz Intel Atom, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, and Intel graphics). Both of which run Windows 7 Ultimate (desktop has 64-bit, obviously).
I also have a server which runs FreeBSD (1.6GHz Pentium dual-core, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB HDD and Intel graphics).Last edited by rwgfx; 01-09-2010 at 08:58 PM.

Re: Mac or PC
HP dv6252em
Was running windows vista when purchased, now running ubuntu 9.10
OS is great, but the laptop is rather poor. Time for an upgrade.

Re: Mac or PC
Since i bought my first mac 3 years ago, I have had many times the mac vs pc argument with many of my friends. Two conclusions arise: macs are more expensive because the price of admission is very high, and no ordinary person (read - non-geek) will ever buy the 'they cost the same when equipped the same' argument (however true that may be). The second conclusion is that there is no better choice, as you said, the computer you choose must fit you. However, one should get over the preconceived ideas and try to make a conscious choice (ideally by using both platforms to form an opinion)
