As expected, Sony Ericsson has dropped the Ericsson name from the company and has announced a new LTE handset for AT&T. The photo above is that of the Sony Xperia ion and regretfully, the handset will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but should be upgradeable to Android 4.0 ICS a few months after its launch. The Xperia ion will come with these following features:

*4.6 inch HD resolution (1280 x 720) display
*1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 CPU
*Adreno™ 220 GPU, OpenGL
*16GB of internal flash storage.
*12 MP rear camera with Sony Exmor R™ for mobile with fast/capture to go from standby to first shot in 1.5 seconds and 1080p recording
*front camera with 720p recording
*NFC
*GPS and Glonass support
*HD sharing through DLNA, HDMI and BRAVIA
*PlayStation™ Certified and access to entertainment services from Sony Entertainment Network, like Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited
