Re: Send a Text Message via the Web
I use a few of these from home (no tower at home). Just keep in mind that the recipient may be charged depending on their plan ...
Yahoo allows you to send texts via their messenger - you don't need to know the provider, but the system is less reliable.

Re: Send a Text Message via the Web
I think free text messaging sites like txtDrop.com - Completely Free Text Messaging and TextShoot.com :: Send your text message. For free. work better than those ones, because you have to go to an individual page for each providers, when you can just use these sites to send to lots of different carriers.
You dont even have to know the carrier with TxtDrop.

What a nightmare.
Easiest is to use a service like teleflip. You just add "teleflip.com" to any phone number and they'll get the carrier right.

How easy is that?

My friends had been using this for a while but I am not much into texting using my phone. I haven't tried doing it via the web.
