    Hi,

I'm new to this forum and come seeking help in choosing my next mobile phone. I have been using android pretty much since it started existing and I really like it, currently my phone is a Galaxy Note II but I'm going to have to choose a new phone since the company I work for have a new mobile phone policy and I'm forced to choose between the iphone 5 or the Nokia Lumia 920. I have never even used one of these phones and really have no clue as to how they are to use.

Which one do you feel is the best phone if stuff as camera, games and such is NOT important, I place value in productivity and apps that make my life easier. I do also use a lot of googles programs such as gmail, google drive and google maps. I would appreciate objective answers since I am asking here because if I ask a friend who is using one of the phones the review might not be very objective or he has not used the other model and cannot make a realistic comparison.

    Regards, Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,

For Google apps, clearly, Android would be the better choice. However, given your situation of having to choose between the iPhone 5 and the Nokia Lumia 920 - or iOS vs. Windows Phone 8, I'd say that the better choice would probably be the iPhone.

As you've asked, I won't get into details regarding the hardware specifications of these devices. But, truth of the matter is that the iOS ecosystem is one of the richest. Android has managed to catch up, but Windows Phone is a rather new platform, and it sometimes suffers from lack of applications.

For instance, the official Google Drive, Gmail and Google Maps applications are all available for download on the Apple Store. However, as far as I'm aware of, the same can't be told about the Windows Phone store. As far as I know, none of these applications are officially available on the Windows Phone store. Of course, you can add a Gmail account to the Lumia 920 (or other WP devices), but as far as I know, the official Gmail application itself is not available. There are, however, 3rd party applications that try and succeed to "borrow" the functionality of Gmail, Google Drive and Google Maps.

So in a nutshell, while Apple offers Google's apps, Microsoft's ecosystem doesn't. Microsoft promotes its own alternative apps, such as Bing, SkyDrive, Outlook etc.

    Hope this helped

Re: Iphone 5 or Windows phone 8

    Hi,

It truly helped since I do not have experience with either Ios or Windows phone. I will probably go for the iphone now since I often depend on some apps that may not yet exist for windows phone.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!
