Battery life on a smartphone is quite relative, and the results usually differ from one user to another. This is due to the fact that various settings and features can affect battery life. This guide will teach you how to maximize battery life on your One Mini, by simply enabling / disabling or changing various settings.

Adjusting the Screen's Brightness:

  1. From the home screen, swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the "Settings" tile
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
  4. Tap "Brightness"
  5. If necessary, clear the "Automatic brightness" check box
  6. Drag the brightness slider to a lower (but still visible) level

Adjusting the Time Before the Screen Turns Off:

After a period of inactivity, your smartphone's screen will turn off automatically to conserve energy. You can lower this period of time by doing the following:

  1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gesture & buttons"
  4. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower value

Setting a Static Wallpaper:

Live wallpapers can have a huge impact on battery life. If you're experiencing issues after setting a live wallpaper, you can change it back to a static image (picture). Also, the HTC One Mini comes with the BlinkFeed home screen by default, so there's little reason to use a live wallpaper.

  1. From the home screen, swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Personalize"
  4. Select "Wallpaper" and tap either "HTC Wallpapers" or "Gallery"
  5. Browse through the images and select the one that you wish to assign
  6. Tap "Apply" or crop the image if necessary (if you've selected "Gallery") and tap "Done"

Disabling Bluetooth and GPS:

Bluetooth and GPS are demanding quite a lot of battery to function, so it's always a good idea to disable these features when not in use. To do so:

  1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the "Bluetooth" tile to disable the feature (a white logo means BT is disabled, while a blue one means the feature is enabled)
  3. Tap the "Settings" tile
  4. Under "Personal", tap "Location"
  5. Clear the "GPS satellites" check box to disable GPS

Disabling Vibration, Haptic Feedback and Touch Sounds:

  1. From the home screen, swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Sound"
  4. Clear the "Vibrate", "Vibrate on touch" and "Touch sounds" check boxes

Enabling and Managing "Power Saver" Mode:

The Power Saver mode can be enabled or customized. The Power Saver mode will automatically be enabled once your battery reaches the "yellow" level. You can, however, enable the Power Saver mode whenever you want.

  1. Swipe down on the status bar using two fingers
  2. Tap the "…" icon associated with the "Power Saver" tile
  3. Mark or unmark the checkboxes associated with the desired features, such:
    • CPU power: conserves battery life by underclocking the CPU's frequency (you will not notice any differences in performance while performing simple tasks)
    • Display: lowers the screen brightness
    • Vibration: disables haptic feedback
    • Data connection: disables data connectivity when the screen is "sleeping"
  4. Tap the "On / Off" switch to enable Power Saver mode

Disabling the Notification Flash:

  1. While the LED flash is very battery friendly (since LEDs are very power efficient), the LED may still affect battery life in case the LED will blink for many hours doe to a notification. To customize / disable the notification flash:
  2. Swipe down on the home screen using two fingers
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Tap "Display, gesture & buttons" found under "Phone"
  5. Tap "Notification flash"
  6. Clear the check boxes associated with the desired types of notifications
  7. Press the "Back" button

Performing a Software Update:

The steps below will work only if a new software update is available, and only if the update's changelog includes improvements in your handset's battery life. Otherwise, following the steps below will have no effect on your battery's performance.

  1. Access the "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe down and tap "About"
  3. Tap "Software updates"
  4. If necessary, tap the "Check now" button
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it. Otherwise, tap "OK" and return to the home screen
