Using iTunes:

NOTE: If you have iTunes installed on a computer connected to the Internet, you can use the app to sync the contacts on your iPhone with your Google account. Then you can sync the account data, including contacts, with the Desire 828.

  1. Launch iTunes on the computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to the PC via USB
  3. Once connected, click the iPhone to access the device’s summary page
  4. Click the “Info” tab and mark the check boxes next to “Sync Contacts With”
  5. Select “Google Contacts” from the drop-down menu
  6. Sign in with your Google account. Alternatively, click “Configure” and select an existing account if available
  7. Click “Apply” and wait for the sync to complete
  8. Once done, register the same Google account on the Desire 828 and allow it to sync contacts with your Android device

Using iCloud:

NOTE: In case you’ve used iCloud on your iPhone before, your contacts should already be backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing the account on a computer connected to the Internet, you can export the contacts as a vCard file for Android use.

  1. Launch the Internet explorer on your computer
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/
  3. Sign in with your iCloud account
  4. In iCloud, access “Contacts”
  5. Select the contacts you want to share and click “Settings” > “Export vCard”
  6. After the vCard is downloaded on the PC, import it to “Google Contacts” or skip this step and instead:
  7. Connect the HTC Desire 828 to your computer via USB and transfer the vCard file to the phone storage. Then, use the “Import” option from the “People” app to add the vCard to your phonebook

Via “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: In case you’re looking for a transfer method that doesn’t require access to a computer, you can use third party apps like My Contacts Backup instead. My Contacts Backup is an iOS app that can be used to back up and transfer contacts via email.

  1. Open the App Store and install “My Contacts Backup” on the iPhone
  2. Launch the app and tap “Backup”
  3. After the backup file is done, tap “Email” to compose a new email containing the vCard file as an attachment
  4. Send the email to your own address
  5. On the Desire 828, open the email and download the attached vCard file
  6. Launch “People” and use the “Import” option from the menu to import the vCard to your phonebook

Via “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Send Anywhere is another third party application for iOS and Android, which uses a P2P connection to transfer contacts and other types of files without requiring a computer.

  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on the iPhone
  2. Go to the Play Store and install the app on the HTC Desire 828
  3. Open the app on both handsets
  4. Tap “Send” on the iPhone and select “Contacts”
  5. Choose the contacts you want to share and tap “Send”
  6. Select a transfer method. You can tap “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone and scan the code with the 828’s camera to start the transfer, or tap “Receive” on the HTC device and enter the transfer code from the iPhone
