Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Swipe to Phone and tap Power > Power saver
- You can customize how Power saver mode works by clearing or checking the tick boxes associated with the available features
- When ready, tap the features switch to ON to enable it
Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings and swipe to Phone
- Tap Display & Gestures
- Tap Brightness level and, if necessary, disable Automatic brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display & Gestures and tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Tap the switches associated with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to disable these features
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap More > Mobile network sharing
- Disable Mobile Hotspot and return to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Location > Mode
- Select Battery saving
Disable Background Data and Change Sync Settings:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts & sync
- Select an app and tap the account name to turn off background sync
- Go back to Accounts & Sync, and select an account to change its sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them, assuming that the apps perform regular background processes. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party applications.
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app, or tap Uninstall > OK to remove it from your phone
Switch to 2G from 4G:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap Mobile data > Network Mode
- Tap GSM Only
Update the OS:
NOTE: Software update can sometimes improve battery life, reason why you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new software updates:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap About
- Tap Software information
- Verify if a new OS version is available. If so, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
