Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably, or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache and / or data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will delete all your personal information stored within the app, including login and credit card information, high scores, save files, profiles etc. To avoid losing data, clear only the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition instead. Unlike a factory reset, clearing the cache partition will not delete personal data stored on the devices internal memory.
- Make sure to turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Down
- Press and hold Power until the phone vibrates, then release it
- Once you gain access to hTC download mode, release Volume down
- From the menu, press Volume Down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight Boot to Recovery Mode
- Press Power
- From the Recovery menu, press Volume down to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm
- After the cache is wiped, make sure reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the HTC 10.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues on your phone and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the Phone Options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Restart
- Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, it should show a Safe Mode watermark on the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
