NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix these issues by factory resetting your device.

WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be removed, including ringtones, contacts, downloaded content, media files etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before factory resetting your phone, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data. You can also check this thread for instructions on how to restore data on the Kyocera DuraForce XD.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Tap “Factory data reset” and ensure “Erase SD card” is unchecked to avoid losing SD card data
  5. Tap “Reset phone”
  6. If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter the PIN / password to proceed
  7. Tap “Erase everything” to confirm

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if newer software updates are available for download.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates”
  5. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
