Clear an App’s Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your third party apps doesn’t work properly then you might be able to solve these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! It’s recommended to first clear the app’s cache. Clearing the app’s data will result in the deletion of all personal info stored within the application, including profiles, saved games, credit card information etc. Clearing the cache will not affect your personal data.

  1. Tap “Apps” while viewing the home screen
  2. Access the “Settings” menu
  3. Go to the “General” tab
  4. Under “Phone Management” tap “Apps”
  5. Swipe to “All” and select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache”
  7. If clearing the cache did not solve the problem, tap “Clear data” > “Yes”

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone doesn’t work properly, (crashes, freezes, low performance, low storage etc.) then you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset, without losing all personal data on the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Storage”
  4. Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Clear data” > “yes”
  6. After the phone cache is cleared, you should no longer see any cached data in the “Storage” screen (or at least there will be a small amount of cached data)

NOTE: If clearing the cache did not help, you can try factory resetting your phone instead. Head down to this thread for a full guide on master resetting the LG Tribute 2.

Enter Safe Mode:

NOTE: Safe Mode can be very useful in scenarios where a third party app prevents you from uninstalling it. In Safe Mode all third party apps are disabled, and whatever process was keeping them from closing will no longer run.

  1. From the home screen, press and hold “Power”
  2. From the pop-up menu, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When you are prompted with “Restart in safe mode”, tap “OK”
  4. Wait for your phone to reboot and you should see a “Safe Mode” label in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. To remove the desired app, go to the “Settings” menu
  6. Tap the “General” tab and under “Phone Management”, tap “Apps”
  7. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  9. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and simply restart your device as you normally would
