Enable and Manage Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu and switch to List view
- Swipe to Device
- Tap Battery > Battery saver
- Tap the Battery saver switch to turn it ON
- Choose a battery percentage at which Battery saver enables automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Menu > List view
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Tap Brightness and move the brightness slider to the left
- From the Display menu tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not in use.
- Open the Settings menu
- If necessary tap menu > List view
- Tap Tethering & networks under Wireless Networks
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and turn the features switch OFF
- Return to Settings and tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to disable these features
- Tap General and under Personal, select Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving (Networks only)
Disable Background Data:
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Tap Menu > List view
- Tap Mobile data > Menu
- Select to Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change App Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by setting your apps / accounts to sync less data / less often.
- Access the Settings menu
- Switch to List view if necessary
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts & sync
- Clear the check box next to Auto-sync data
- Under Accounts, select an app to change its sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can negatively affect battery performance even when you dont use them assuming of course, that the applications run regular processes in the background. As such you could improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Menu > List view
- Swipe to Device and tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold the desired application
- Tap Force stop to disable the app, or Uninstall to completely remove it
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, switch to List view from the Menu
- Scroll to Wireless Networks and tap Tethering & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Enable Use only 2G networks
Keep Your Phone Updated:
NOTE: Certain software updates contain improvements to battery life, thus you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Access Settings and switch to List view if necessary
- Under Device, tap About phone
- Tap Update center > System updates
- Tap Check for update
- Assuming that a newer update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it on the phone
