WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all of the personal data on the phones internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, apps, downloaded content, contacts etc. In addition, all of the phones settings will be restored to factory values, but data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be removed.
NOTE: Before you factory reset the phone, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on how to restore data.
Master Reset via Settings:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Menu and select List view if necessary
- Under Personal, tap Backup & reset
- Select or clear the Back up my data and Automatic restore check boxes
- Tap Backup account and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with, or create a Google account
- Tap Factory data reset and optionally, enable or disabled Erase SD card
- Tap Reset phone
- Tap next > Delete all > OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case your phone prevents you from resetting it via Settings (method above), you can also try factory resetting it via Recovery. The recovery menu can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- First, turn off the phone
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- When the LG logo pops-up, release and quickly re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all hardware buttons
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Yes at the Erase all user data and restore default settings "pop-up
- Press Power to confirm and wait for the phone to reset and reboot
Checking for Firmware Updates:
NOTE: After master resetting your phone you should check and see if newer software updates are available for download. To do so:
- Ensure that the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- If necessary, tap menu and switch to List view
- Scroll down to System and tap About phone
- Tap Update Center > System updates
- Tap Check for Updates and assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install it
