Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
  4. Turn on “Back up my data” to back up settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and account data on your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to set your account to restore data automatically upon reinstalling applications

NOTE: App data that has been backed up using the method above will be automatically restored when you sigh in with your Google backup account for the first time / after a factory reset.

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the account you want to use for syncing contacts
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above will be restored automatically upon signing in with your Google account for the first time on the phone / after a factory reset.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the LG Ray and computer
  2. On the home screen, swipe the “Notification” bar down and turn on “Media sync (MTP)”
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media files on your phone storage
  4. Copy the desired media files and transfer them in the desired backup location on your computer
  5. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray in order to safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the LG Ray to your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the “Notification” bar down and make sure “Media sync (MTP)” is enabled
  3. Open the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media file backups
  4. Copy the desired files and transfer them on your phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder they originate from
  5. Once the transfer is finished, click the “Mass Storage Device” icon in the system tray and eject the phone storage
  6. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cable
