WARNING! When factory resetting a device, all data stored on the devices internal memory will be deleted, including media files, apps, ringtones, contacts, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected. For instructions on how to back up data from the internal storage, visit this thread. For a guide on restoring data, visit this thread.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- On the home screen, swipe the Notification bar down
- Launch Settings
- If necessary, go to the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset
- Clear or tick the check boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account
- If necessary, follow the on-screen steps to sign in with or create a Google account
- Tap Factory data reset
- When prompted, select whether or not to Erase SD card. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted by the factory reset
- When ready, tap Reset Phone > Next > Delete all
- Tap OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or doesnt allow you to reset it via settings for whatever reasons, you might be able to reset the device from the Android System Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing a combination of key presses.
- First, ensure the phone is turned off
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- When you see the LG logo on-screen, quickly release and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all keys
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings, use Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power and wait for the device to reset and reboot to complete the process
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: After you have reset the phone, its recommended to check if new software updates are available. To do this:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap Software info and verify if new software updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: This process will require you to reboot the phone
