Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! By clearing the apps data, all personal data stored within the app, such as saved games, profiles, credit card and login information, settings, high scores etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the apps cache.
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Go to the General tab and tap Apps
- Swipe to All and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > Yes. NOTE: read the Warning above
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the phones cache partition.
- Swipe the Status bar on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General section and tap Storage
- Wait for the device to finish calculating data
- Tap Cached data > Yes to wipe the cache partition
- Once the process is done, you should see a lower amount of cached data than before
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- While viewing the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the Power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode label should be displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen
- Launch Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Apps and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- After removing the app, you can exit safe mode by restarting your phone as you normally would: press and hold Power and tap Power off
