Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the application’s cache / data.

WARNING! By clearing the app’s data, all your personal data stored within the application, including profiles, saved games, login and credit card information will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the application’s cache.

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Access the “General” tab and tap “Apps”
  4. Swipe to “All” and tap “Clear cache”
  5. Tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (NOTE: read the WARNING above)

Reset the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering applying a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these problems by clearing the phone’s cache partition.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Access the “General” tab and tap “Storage”
  4. Wait for the device to finish calculating the data and tap “Cached data” > “Yes”
  5. Wait for the process to complete, and once done, a much lower value should be shown under “Cached data”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the LG X Max.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an Application:

NOTE: If you’ve installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Wake and unlock the screen if necessary
  2. While on the home screen, press and hold “Power”
  3. In the “Power management” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. At the “Restart in Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK”
  5. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” label should be displayed in the lower-left area of the home screen
  6. Next, open “Settings” and access the “General” tab if needed
  7. Tap “Apps” and go to “Downloaded”
  8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  9. After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you normally would (press and hold “Power” and tap “Power off”)
