Why the hate for Metro PCS?

I've used Metro here in Northern CA a couple times now, and where I am it is superior to T-Mobile in term of coverage. I don't know about other providers, but I know lots of people hate on Metro for whatever reason. Is there something I'm missing? I didn't have to do a crappy contract, and I get unlimited text and LD for $40/month.

For the haters: what don't I know?

MetroPCS phone support is useless. My son's phone has not had data for months now, and I repeatedly call in (every two weeks) about it and am told that it is escalated and engineers are looking into it. I called in today, to get a credit for the time the phone has not been working, and was told that they can not find any trouble ticket in the system. I took that phone off the account (useless anyway, no reason to keep paying for it) effective immediately, and am now looking into the possibility of moving my whole family's phone service to a different company.

This was first reported in the first week of July. It is now November. FOUR MONTHS with no progress, going through hell repeating troubleshooting steps every two weeks, being told to be patient, that it was being worked on. Now I find out that it has not been worked on at all, that I will not be issued the credit I was promised back in July, and that there has never been any trouble ticket on file.
