Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Personal”
  4. Enable "Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data on your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow your account to restore app data automatically upon reinstalling backed up apps

NOTE: App data will also be automatically restored upon the first time you sign in with your Google account on a new phone, or after a fresh factory reset.

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account to sync contacts with
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method will be restored automatically upon the first time you sign in with your Google account on a new phone, or after a factory reset.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Moto X Pure Edition to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Notification” bar down
  3. Enable “Media sync (MTP)”
  4. Launch an Explorer window on the computer and locate the media files on your phone
  5. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired back up location on your computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB connector

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Moto X and computer
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and tap “Media Sync (MTP)”
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer
  4. Locate the media files backed up on your computer
  5. Copy the files, and navigate to the phone storage
  6. Paste the files on the phone, preferably in the “Media” directory
  7. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the computer
