Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the applications cache and / or data.
WARNING! When you clear an applications data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save games, profiles, settings, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing this data, clear only the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Apps and make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Tap the desired application
- Go to Storage and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK to confirm. (NOTE: read WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work as intended and you are considering resetting it, you can first try clearing the devices cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the phones internal memory.
- Make sure the phone is turned off
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume Down for at least 5 seconds
- Once you release the buttons you should immediately have access to the Boot Mode Selection Menu
- In this menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up repeatedly until you gain access to Android Recovery
- Navigate the Recovery menu using the volume keys. Highlight Wipe cache partition and press Power
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the option
- After the cache partition is cleared, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power to confirm and reboot your device
NOTE: if clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an Application:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to easily uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.
- Wake the screen if necessary
- Press and hold Power while on the home screen
- Tap and hold Power off in the pop-up window
- When prompted to reboot to Safe Mode, tap OK to confirm
- Wait for your device to reboot. Once done, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings and go to Apps
- Make sure you view All apps
- Tap the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, simply press and hold Power and tap Power off to restart your device as you normally would
