Hi. I'm thinking about going with Nextel, but have a couple of questions. Why is nextel online so much cheaper than my local NPI dealer? What's the "catch" to buying service online? Will I have a local number if I buy online? Thanks for any help that can be provided.

the monthly fee is set by Nextel and the same across the board no matter where you go. With the exception of a goverment or corperate discount. The equiptment is something different. The agents and dealers can adjust the price to what ever they wish. Now there are a lot of sub dealers and sub sub dealers out there also. A sub dealer is a dealer below a dealer. A sub sub dealer is a dealer below a subdealer. Each dealer make a few dollars meaning the price gets jacked up a little more each time it passes down. Ussually a gas station or quicky mart or a real little store is a sub dealer. Master dealerships are hard to get and often must maintain a higher number of activations. So they are often busy and specialize in cellular.
Now a good dealer would be either a little cheaper or the same as the nextel website. It they were a lot higher then that would a bad sign and if they were a lot lower I might take that as a bad sign. My store is generally $50 cheaper per phone than online pricing. (Like the i730 is on line for $149 we are at $99) Except when it comes to upgrades. Nextel put a lot of there charges in fine print making it look like we are a lot higher but we are not really.
