WARNING! By master resetting your phone you will delete all personal data stored on the internal memory, including downloaded content, media files, contacts, apps etc. The phone’s settings will also be restored to factory values and your accounts will be removed. However data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected

NOTE: Before a master reset you should consider backing up your data. Visit this thread to learn how you can back up and restore data on the Lumia 532.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left
  2. Go to “Settings” and tap “about”
  3. Tap “reset your phone”
  4. Confirm with “yes” at the warning message”
  5. Tap “yes” again and your phone should now reset to factory values

Master Reset via Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: In case your phone prevents you from resetting it using the method above, you can also try applying a factory reset by performing a combination of hardware button presses, as follows:

  1. Turn off the Lumia 532
  2. Press and hold “Volume down”
  3. Press and hold “Power” to turn the phone back on
  4. After the phone vibrates once, release “Power” but continue holding “Volume Down”
  5. When you see an exclamation mark on the screen, release all buttons
  6. Perform the following sequence: Volume Up” > “Volume Down” > “Power” > “Volume Down”
  7. Your device should now display a couple of rotating gears while it resets

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: It’s recommended to search for new software updates immediately after you factory reset your phone. To see if a newer OS version is available:

  1. Swipe the Start screen to the left
  2. From the “Applications” screen, tap “Settings”
  3. Tap “About” > “More info”
  4. Check the “Firmware version number” and verify if newer updates are available. If yes, follow the on-screen instructions to apply them on your device
