There's a new updated version, v1.9.6, of the BeejiveIM beta application for BlackBerry and if includes the following features

V1.9.6 version update

* file transfers via link, you can now transfer files to buddies on all IM accounts.
* push when app running in background (see preferences in app).
* send voice notes
* send GPS location (if supported by phone)
* new chat styles & background images
* new buddy list layouts
* improved battery life
* overall UI redesign
* various other bug fixes & enhancements

As with any updates, you must uninstall the old version and install the new. You may want to a backup of the old version. Unfortunately, the update is not and will not work with the Storm or BlackBerry device running OS below 4.2.1.
