I recently found out, the hard way, that rogers will charge you for connecting to your own wireless router at home and surfing the web via your phone.
I don't know how they can charge you when I do the exact same thing with my laptop. Shouldn't this be free? I never connect to 3G either but i kinda wish i did since my data usuage came out to an extra 80$.
I should also mention i have no data plan and I am using a non-rogers phone (nokia E51). Just swapped sim cards.
Has anyone else tried surfing the web with there router and got charged?

Re: Huge charge for Wi-fi
I was connected directly to my Dlink extreme N router, lol it says it on the phone when u connect. I called rogers and they said wifi is used to get a better signal in certain places but they still charge u for using wifi.
I think its bs that they can charge u for that, its my internet not theirs.

Re: Huge charge for Wi-fi
tried poppin my sim card out and using wlan but it doesn't work. It still finds my router but it won't connect to the internet.
I have to refresh my wifi alot to even find my router wit the sim out. It then asks me to "create a connection in offline mode?" when i try to go to a web address. I click yes & it says unable to connect.
I'll try blocking my internet by calling them, so if I get charged again I can be like I don't even have internet so how can u guys charge me.
