Restoring Applications:
- Sign in with your Samsung or Google account (the one you've used for the backup)
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Select "Google" or 'Samsung" and tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync all" and press the "Back" button until you return to the "User and Backup" menu
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Swipe to "Backup and Restore", and check / uncheck the boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts
From a Samsung or Google account:
- Sign in to the Samsung or Google account used for the backup
- From the home screen, tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Select "Google" or "Samsung" and tap the "email address" located at the top
- Mark the "Sync contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Ensure that the SD card containing the backup file is installed (Visit this link for a full guide on how to manage the SD Card storage on the SGS5 LTE-A)
- Launch the "Contacts" app
- Access the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export" and then tap "Import from SD card"
- Select an account if necessary
Restoring Media Files
From the SD Card:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Open "My Files" and tap "All files"
- Tap "SD Card"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap "Menu" > "Move" > "Device storage" > "Move here"
- If you wish to move the files to a different location, tap "Create folder" or tap the folder name
From a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the computer and smartphone
- On the handset, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Go to the location where you wish to restore the media files
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backup files on your computer's HDD
- Copy the files and transfer them on your phone's storage
- After the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
From a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Visit this link if you need to download and install Samsung Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A to your Mac via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device" check box
- Open Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
- Access the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with the media files you wish to restore, such as "Photo" and "Music". NOTE: you can click "Select all items" to restore all the files
- Click "Restore" and if necessary, follow any additional prompts
- Once the process is complete, eject the smartphone and safely disconnect it from the Mac
