Restoring Applications:

  1. Sign in with your Samsung or Google account (the one you've used for the backup)
  2. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Select "Google" or 'Samsung" and tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
  5. Tap "Sync all" and press the "Back" button until you return to the "User and Backup" menu
  6. Tap "Backup and reset"
  7. Swipe to "Backup and Restore", and check / uncheck the boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"

Restoring Contacts

From a Samsung or Google account:

  1. Sign in to the Samsung or Google account used for the backup
  2. From the home screen, tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Select "Google" or "Samsung" and tap the "email address" located at the top
  5. Mark the "Sync contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"

Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:

  1. Ensure that the SD card containing the backup file is installed (Visit this link for a full guide on how to manage the SD Card storage on the SGS5 LTE-A)
  2. Launch the "Contacts" app
  3. Access the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
  4. Tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
  5. Tap "Import / Export" and then tap "Import from SD card"
  6. Select an account if necessary

Restoring Media Files

From the SD Card:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Open "My Files" and tap "All files"
  3. Tap "SD Card"
  4. Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  6. Tap "Menu" > "Move" > "Device storage" > "Move here"
  7. If you wish to move the files to a different location, tap "Create folder" or tap the folder name

From a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the computer and smartphone
  2. On the handset, swipe the "Status" bar down
  3. Tap "Connected as a media device"
  4. Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
  5. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files"
  6. Go to the location where you wish to restore the media files
  7. Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backup files on your computer's HDD
  8. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone's storage
  9. After the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone

From a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Visit this link if you need to download and install Samsung Kies on the Mac

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A to your Mac via USB
  2. Drag the "Status" bar down
  3. Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device" check box
  4. Open Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
  5. Access the "Restore" tab
  6. Mark the check boxes associated with the media files you wish to restore, such as "Photo" and "Music". NOTE: you can click "Select all items" to restore all the files
  7. Click "Restore" and if necessary, follow any additional prompts
  8. Once the process is complete, eject the smartphone and safely disconnect it from the Mac
