Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps causes issues, doesn’t work as intended, or takes up more storage than it should, you might be able to solve these problems by clearing the respective app’s cache / data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will also delete all of your personal information stored within the app, including login and credit card information, high scores, profiles, saved games etc. Thus, to avoid losing personal data, it’s recommended to try and fix the app by clearing the cache first.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Application”
  3. Tap “Application manager”
  4. Access the “Downloaded” or “All” section
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problems, you can tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Reboot in Safe Mode:

NOTE: If one of your third party applications causes issues on your phone and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party applications are disabled by default. To enter Safe Mode:

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. Once the “Samsung” logo pops-up, release “Power” and immediately press & hold “Volume Down”
  4. Once the phone restarts, a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen. At this point, release all hardware keys
  5. To uninstall the desired app, first open “Settings”
  6. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  7. Tap “Application manager” and swipe to “Downloaded”
  8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall”
  9. After the app has been removed, press & hold “Power” and reboot your phone as you normally would

Wipe Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesn’t work as it should, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the device’s cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data on the internal storage.

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold “Power”, “Home”, and “Volume Up” at the same time
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power”
  4. Once the “Android” logo appears, release all hardware buttons
  5. Once in the “Android system recovery” menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Wait for the cache partition to be wiped. Once done, “Reboot system now” will be highlighted
  8. Press “Power”
