Clear App Data / Cache:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, it freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager”
  4. Swipe to “All” or “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering master resetting the device to fix these issues, you can try solving the problems by wiping the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to similar results as a factory reset, without losing any of the personal data stored on the phone’s internal storage.

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold “Power”, “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
  4. At the “Android” logo, release the other buttons too
  5. From the “Recovery menu”, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe cache partition”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm the selection
  7. Once the cache is cleared, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and restart the device

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the device instead.

  4. Once the phone finishes rebooting, release “Volume down” too. (NOTE: a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower-left area of the home screen)
  5. Open the “Settings” menu
  6. Scroll to “Device”
  7. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager”
